Art Wellesley is pleased to announce the first curated art exhibition at the Tolles Parsons Center in Wellesley.

Art Wellesley (AW) is pleased to announce the first curated art exhibition at the Tolles Parsons Center (TPC) with the Wellesley Council on Aging (COA). AW is facilitating a rotating bi-annual exhibition program. Each show will celebrate the work of 3-5 artists, displaying a body of work of each selected artist. The Tolles Parsons Center is a vibrant community facility that welcomes visitors of all ages during open hours throughout the year. The show offers an opportunity to reach a new, captive audience! An opening reception will kickstart the show.

AW is delighted to have Elizabeth Cohen serve as our inaugural juror for the Art Wellesley Exhibition series. Elizabeth has lived and worked in Wellesley for 25 years. She was a founder of Wellesley Women Artisans and is committed to cultivating the art ecosystem in Wellesley.

Elizabeth is an independent studio potter and painter, who has been creating wheel-thrown and altered functional and sculptural work in porcelain, and two-dimensional mixed media pieces with wasp nests, mushroom spores, mulberry paper and paint on panels. Organic elements in nature, such as flowers, fruits, seeds, shells, and plants, inform her work. She explores cycles of birth, life and death, growth and decay, rhythm and change, and varied metaphorical nuances, such as family, security and comfort, in nesting sets.

Elizabeth holds a B.A. in English from Tufts University (1988) and a M.A.T. from Simmons College (1990).
